KCJR-8W2
This was the second leg of my "stamp run".
While the weather was VMC, winds were typically gusty for early Spring in the Mid-Atlantic region, but not too bad. Crossing the easterly ridge between Culpeper, VA (KCJR) and New Market, VA (8W2) put us just under the scattered-to-broken cloud deck, but we had a decent pass to fit over so we didn't have to file IFR or find a hole to climb over the clouds.
Landing at New Market proved interesting. First, coming across the second ridge at 6000 feet (to keep over the ridge, but under the clouds) meant we had a fairly steep descent to get to the field. Then, as we were setting up our downwind leg, another Cessna entered the area heading the opposite direction. We were already below them, so they weren't a factor. We landed on runway 6 and began to turn around for a short back-taxi to the ramp when we noticed the other Cessna was on base-to-final for runway 24! We were definitely broadcasting and receiving on the correct frequency so the other gentlemen was, at a minimum, not broadcasting on the correct one. No harm done, but it does serve as a reminder to "see and avoid".
