DC ADIZ Public Meeting Transcripts Back Online

AOPA reports the transcripts of the Metropolitan Washington Special Flight Rules Area public meetings are now back online. This was yet another exercise in bureaucratic stupidity. Even though the meetings were public, attended by hundreds of citizens, the media, and representatives of the military, Secret Service, Homeland Security, etc., NORAD (North American Aerospace Defence Command) wanted the transcripts pulled from public view and scrubbed for sensitive information. Any such information was to be redacted from the public record.

Ridiculous. The assault on logic from this decision defies description.

In any case, you might want to download the transcripts now before "they" change their minds. Again.

First meeting: afternoon, evening.

Second meeting: afternoon, evening.

Even more ridiculous - in "scrubbing" the documents, they ended up not removing or changing a single word.  What a pointless exercise.

Pointless, but reassuring at the same time. I have to wonder if anybody felt any pressure to find SOMEthing to pull out. The fact that nothing was redacted at least shows some level of sanity prevails (even if miniscule).
