Departing Tangier Island, VA (KTGI)
This is our departure from Tangier Island, VA (KTGI) after having lunch and walking around the island (literally). Winds had picked up a bit and we were in the middle of a bit of a "rush hour" at KTGI. A friendly Cherokee driver did a 360 east of the island to give us time to back-taxi and takeoff.
Picking up my IFR clearance took a bit more effort than usual. I called Patuxent Approach (the last controller I'd talked to on the way in) and requested my clearance, but he directed me to Norfolk on 126.05. I tried that, but the best I got was another plane talking to Norfolk. I never heard Norfolk myself, so I switched back to PAX and he had my clearance ready: Direct TAPPA, V286, CSN, Direct.
Other than the headwind, the flight home was uneventful - although we did see a couple planes (warbirds?) flying in the vicinity of Warrenton, VA (W66). I don't know if they were part of the Flying Circus, but that is on my list of things to do soon.
