Leesburg, VA (KJYO) to Staunton, VA (KSHD)

Flight track from Leesburg, VA to Staunton, VAThis was the first of a three leg flight. Nothing terribly special about it. I filed direct and that's pretty much what I got from the friendly folks at Potomac Consolidated TRACON after they radar ID'd me. This need for radar identification when flying IFR is why all flights from KJYO are routed north to STILL intersection or the Martinsburg VOR (MRB) which shows up as the "fish hook" routing seen in the flight track.

There wasn't much interesting weatherwise other than a few clouds hanging over the Blue Ridge east of Massanutten, VA - hardly enough to qualify for more than a few minutes of IMC.

However, there was a bit of "fun" maneuvering for entry to the pattern as another plane called the same distance from the airport as me in the same general vicinity.  I figured he was a good bit west of me and he was indeed ahead and to the west. He entered the pattern mid-field downwind while I was about 1.5 miles behind him on an extended downwind.

Unlike the last landing at KSHD, this one had no crosswind to spice up the landing.

Total round trip time: 4.7 hours
