N2871R Home in New Livery

Finally! For the first time since 29 August 2006, a member of Blue Ridge Flyers flew N2871R - and it was the same one who was the last to fly it. I'm still not sure if it was a honor bestowed on me or if I was voted to be the guinea pig, but I was quite happy to be at the controls once again. Luckily, not much rust had set in on my skills and the air work we did on the way home (part of the annual proficiency my club requires) knocked off much of what had built up.

The crew at Hagerstown Aircraft Services did a very good job restoring the plane to a level of quality it probably hasn't seen since it left the factory. Little things like fixng the intermittent map light, replacing the brake line clip on the landing gear, the springs in the tie-down clips and the spring in the baggage door latch (and many others) really do add to the appeal of the plane.

Now, let's hope for some decent weather so I can get in some of the flying I've been putting off since August...
