Winter Flight Decision Path

Pop quiz:

Planning a flight from Leesburg, VA (KJYO) to Elkin, NC (KZEF) to visit family for the weekend. This is purely a social call. Plan is to leave Friday, November 10 around 6pm and the flight is generally about 2 hours 15 minutes in a Cessna C182. Rain showers are predicted for the early part of the flight.

Woo a post! Welcome back. Too bad I don't know enough to give you a judgment. I'm more of one of those guys who read pilot blogs and dream about flying. Probably not flying with rain showers sprinting towards you though.

Yeah, been busy. I've taken a few flights in the interim (some even with video), but I just haven't taken the time to post them.

The rain showers aren't the problem as much as the potential for freezing raing at altitude.
