Thanksgiving '07 - Part 2 of 8: KRDU-KHQU
After a relatively short bio-break (for the two humans and the dog), I used the Internet station inside TAC Air to file a new IFR flight plan from Raleigh, NC (KRDU) to Thomson, GA (KHQU)..bmp)
I've found that flying on the east side of Charlotte at my preferred altitudes (9-11K) gets me easier routing and less apparent aggravation with controllers. Sandhills (SDZ), Chesterfield (CTF), Colliers (IRQ) then direct to KHQU was the route filed and that's what I got (with a short "radar vectors" prepended to the route).
All told, diverting to KRDU added a little less than 2 hours to my total time. Not ideal, but I would much rather pay the 2 hours time than have to clean the plane after the dog expended his bio hold time.
The video shows my departure from KRDU - with a much shorter taxi leaving than what I had after landing. I asked for the left side when landing, but the controller responded "unable due to traffic".
