080714 KMAO-KJYO
After a bio break and refueling (both for the plane and our hunger), it was time to check the weather and depart Marion, SC (KMAO) for home (KJYO). Of course, the only weather at KMAO is The Weather Channel and it confirmed shortly that the cold front was indeed still essentially stalled over Fayetteville (KFAY) and Raleigh (KRDU). My planned route would take us through a weaker part of the front, but things can obviously change in an hour.
We took off VFR and picked up the clearance from Florence Approach in the air. They soon had us turned northward and into the gray yonder I went. Most of the next hour was spent on instruments in IMC. Turbulence wasn't bad at all and ATC kept us out of most of the rain.
It wasn't too long before we broke through the other side and found smooth skies all the way home.
