Here is my first landing at Buffalo Niagara International Airport (KBUF) in Buffalo, NY. Due to unavoidable delays in departing Leesburg, we arrived at KBUF after dark. This made identifying the airport a bit more challenging (especially on my first time there), but I eventually found it and was cleared to land runway 32.
While en route to the ...

This is my approach and landing to Manteo, NC (KMQI) for a weekend at the beach. The weather was forecast for the typical scattered afternoon thundershower. As we neared Elizabeth City, NC (KECG), Washington Center (ZDC) asked me to let him know when I had the weather at KMQI and what approach I wanted. Hmm... OK, so I had to wait just a bit to ...

This is my approach and landing to Elkin, NC (KZEF) to pick up my brother on the way to Georgia. On the descent we get to hear two interesting transactions.
The first is a Lear jet on the ground at Statesville, NC (KSVH) calling Atlanta Center to get their IFR release. This is a lesson in clarity of speech. Mumbling on the radio is not a good way ...

I had timed my departure from Leesburg (KJYO) to miss the weather system that was moving west to east into the area in the afternoon. However, the southeastern edge of the system developed faster than predicted and it was time for an adjustment. This captures ATC vectoring me across the northern edge of a north-south line of weather advancing ...
